Veteran midfielder Frank Lampard headed the winning goal for Manchester City against a resilient Sunderland as they join Chelsea to become the pace-setters of Premier League.
Manchester City star Yaya Toure netted a sublime 22-yard strike to give the hosts lead in the 57th minute, which was further consolidated by Steven Jovetic's clever close-rabge finish to put City firmly in control, the BBC reported.
However, Jack Rodwell's header and Adam Johnson's penalty saw a resilient Sunderland leveling the scores.
Lampard, who came in as a substitute in the 70th minute, headed a decisive goal for City to join Chelsea with 46 points in the Premier League table.
