Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday termed the Land Acquisition Bill as 'anti-farmer' and added that his party will counter it tooth and nail by taking support from all the opposition parties.

"It (Land Acquisition Bill) is anti-farmer. With the intention to help farmers we amended it earlier the Act of 1886. We completely revamped the Act and that was in favour of farmers. We are going to oppose it tooth and nail, taking support from all the opposition parties," Kharge told ANI here.

"To help some corporate companies and the industrialists the new ordinance has been brought," he added.

The government will today introduce the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the Parliament to replace the Land Acquisition Ordinance.

It will be introduced in Lok Sabha by Rural development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh.

The government had last year in December circulated the ordinance which had brought changes in the previous bill passed in 2013 by the UPA regime.

Meanwhile, veteran social activist Anna Hazare has launched a protest against the ordinance demanding its withdrawal, which will be joined by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.
