Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Tuesday said that the Land Acquisition Bill cannot go in its present form and it will be better to take the issue to the President.

"It cannot go in its present form, it is better to take the issue to the President, after all he is the custodian of our constitution," Raja told ANI here.

"When the ordinance was issued, it was reported, President summoned a few ministers and discussed necessity for the ordinance and content of the ordinance," he added.

Earlier in the day, Congress was denied permission to carry out its protest march against the Land Acquisition Bill.

The Delhi Police has set up barricades and water cannons at Vijay Chowk to prevent the protestors from reaching the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Along with the CPI, leaders of the Congress Janata Dal (United), Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, INLD as well as other parties were also expected to participate in the protest.
