Congress Party spokesperson Anand Sharma on Monday, slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the farmers issue and the land bill saying that he needs to apologise to the nation for wasting ten months of development and accused the Government of being 'anti-farmer' and 'anti-poor'.
"Where was the Prime Minister's concern for Farmers when his government enacted ordinance to change the UPA Land Act not one, not two but three times. PM should apologise to the nation before speaking his Mann Ki Baat on farmers & Land Act. He wasted 10 months of development," Sharma said here.
In a press conference organized by the Congress Party today, party's spokesperson Sharma launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led government saying that many sore questions have risen under the Centre including massive centralisation of power and winnowing doing the Cabinet System.
"We feel sorry for the Home Minister who comes to know about things when the file comes from top. Earlier, the Foreign Secretary was removed unceremoniously by this Government. 16 secretaries were posted just few days ago. Ministers of the Modi government came to about their secretaries through media only," Sharma said.
Earlier today, Rajiv Mehrishi was appointed as the new Union Home Secretary after L.C. Goyal took voluntary retirement.
Prime Minister Modi approved the appointment of Mehrishi, who was till recently functioning as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs.
