The controversial Land Ordinance was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday by Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

The Parliament had earlier witnessed an uproar by the opposition leaders even before the ordinance was tabled.

"I don't understand, what the opposition is protesting about when the Bill hasn't even been tabled yet?" said Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said he was sure the second leg of the Budget Session of Parliament today would witness high level of constructive discussions and debate.

He had also said on twitter that he looked forward to a productive session, filled with constructive debates on several issues.

The controversial bill could not be converted into a law in the first half of the Budget session due to opposition in Rajya Sabha, where the government does not have requisite numbers, and was re-promulgated on April 3- a day before it was to lapse.

Other key legislations to be passed during the second half of the budget session are the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill and the Constitution Amendment Bill for introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

While the Lok Sabha reconvenes today, the Rajya Sabha will begin on Thursday.
