Landslide in Uttarakhand after heavy rains

Heavy rains have lashed Uttarakhand, which has resulted in landslides occurring all over the state. The number of casualties has not yet been determined.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said, "The landslide has occurred in six or seven areas, because of which, we have not been able to reach the affected areas by road. As of now, we have sent helicopters to these areas."

Acknowledging that there has been loss of life in the Pauri region, Rawat added, "Our first aim is to open the roads. The other important thing is to assure the people affected that help is on its way."

 

Anand Sharma, Director of the Metrological Department in Dehra Dun, said, "On August 13, we had given the warning that on August 14 and 15, there will be heavy rainfall. The rains started in the evening on Thursday and will decrease only tomorrow in the afternoon.
