The Government of Sri Lanka has estimated that it will need Rs. 1.812 trillion (approximately USD 14 billion) as expenditure for its services in fiscal 2015.
Presenting the Appropriation Bill for 2015 before Parliament on Friday, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne said that the total government expenditure for the year 2015 at Rs. 1,812,292,718,000.
According to the Bill, the government expenditure for next year will be increased by 17 percent from this year's estimated expenses. Appropriation Bill for 2014 estimated Rs.1.54 trillion as expenditure.
The Appropriation Bill 2015 also targets a budget deficit of 4.4 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) for the next year while expecting a growth rate of 8.2 percent, reports the Lanka Page web site.
