Malik Ishaq, chief of the banned sectarian outfit Lashkar-i-Jhangvi in Pakistan, has been killed Punjab's Muzaffargarh district, along with his two sons and 11 others in an alleged exchange of fire with the police.
According to the Dawn, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested Ishaq and his sons a week ago.
The encounter took place after militants attacked security forces and tried to free Ishaq.
A CTD spokesman said that Ishaq and his two sons were taken to Muzaffargarh by the counter-terrorism department to aid in the recovery of arms and explosives.
Ishaq was also accused of masterminding, from behind bars, the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, which left seven players injured and an assistant coach, and killed eight Pakistanis.
