Last rites of dead Mumbai fireman to be held shortly

The last rites of fireman Nitin Ivalekar, who died yesterday while trying to bring a blaze under control at the Lotus Business Park building in Andheri will be taking place in a short while.

Blaming lack of security for Nitin's death, his wife Shubhangi Ivalekar demanded complete details of the operation and what precautions had been taken before entering the building.

"How many people were there inside and what all happened? I want all the information. How my husband was sent inside. What was he wearing I want to know all. It was such a huge fire, why didn't they use the ladder. My husband was not wearing precautionary clothes. He was sent with carelessness. They don't have any responsibility. I want safty for my kids," said Shubhangi.

 

Another relative Ganpat Shantaram Saegaukar added, "I want to see the safety dress and want to know what facilities were there to control the fire."

The premises have offices of noted film personalities, including Rakesh Roshan and Ajay Devgan.
