In an interview, the late American actor told People Magazine about his father saying that his father drank a lot and he would come home bombed and make us sing to him or get a whipping.

'The Notebook' actor further revealed that he could not stand to see little people picked on by big people and if a director started abusing people, he would just jump in.

According to reports Garne's step mother Wilma would beat him, and as punishment for perceived wrongdoings would force the late actor to wear a dress in public, calling him 'Louise'.
