Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare and Urban Development Minister Azam Khan on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'late' reaction on the Dadri lynching case was his 'ghar vapasi' and added that the latter is being considered the 'hero' of the Godhra incident by the BJP and RSS.
"What happened in Dadri has hurt India's image all over the world. When something like that happens here, it goes out to the world in seconds. We expected PM Modi to make a statement immediately, instead he chose to create a controversy over beef while his ministers went ahead and politicised it. What happened with Kulkarni was another incident crossing the level of tolerance," Khan told ANI here.
"Ever since the Prime Minister came to power, minorities have been persecuted. Mosques, churches and temples have been attacked, 'love jehad' and 'ghar vapasi' have been the trend. This is his own 'ghar vapasi' as a matter of fact. He thinks that the controversy surrounding the Dadri issue and beef is going to affect him in the Bihar polls," Khan added.
Training his guns on BJP leader Sangeet Som, the Samajwadi Party leader said it was incredible that the 'main accused' of the Muzaffarnagar riots had been provided extra security by the government.
"Muzaffarnagar's biggest accused, who should be behind bars, is being given black commando and Z Plus security. If the Prime Minister feels that the Centre cannot be blamed over the Dadri incident, then what about Sakshi Maharaj, Aditya Nath, Jyoti Niranjan? Are they not BJP leaders? Modi ji must think about it," Khan said.
In an interview to a Kolkata-based daily newspaper, Prime Minister Modi said that neither his party nor the Centre has had any role in the Dadri incident or the controversy surrounding Ghulam Ali.
He also blamed the opposition for trying to use these sad incidents and indulging in politics of polarisation.
