World No. 63 Lauren Davis has filed a lawsuit for a head injury she sustained at the Family Circle Cup tennis tournament in 2011.
According to TennisWorldUSA.org, Davis was knocked out by negligently hung lighting in a corporate sponsor booth at the event in 2011.
She says in her complaint that a piece of lighting and video equipment fell on her head, knocking her unconscious, as a result of which she suffered and continues to suffer from serious, severe and painful head trauma including a concussion, post-concussion syndrome with its resulting emotional effects.
Davis added that she has required expensive and long-term medical treatment including multiple emergency room visits, evaluation and treatment by specialists, diagnostic tests such as CT scans and MRI, prescription medications, and other treatments and will continue to require medical care in the future.
