A day after 'azaadi' slogans were raised by the students of Kolkata's Jadavpur University as a mark of protest against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday accused the Left leaning parties of poisoning the minds of the youth.
"I hold all the political parties that have affiliation to these students groups for not guiding them properly. And these Left leaning parties are actually left with a rump in the Parliament; the people have rejected them all over the country. And if they continue with their pernicious attempts in poisoning the minds of the youth, these Left leaning parties will completely disappear. This is clearly an act, which is not in the national interest," BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao told ANI.
"These parties and their student organisations are clearly indulging in acts of anti-nationalism and we will expose them," he added.
Expressing similar views, another BJP leader Satyapal Singh called for a through probe to ascertain as to what compelled these youth to stage such protests.
"We should find out the way as to what gives them so much courage to do so and proper investigation must be done to get to the roots of this," he added.
Calls for 'azaadi' were heard for the second time this year at the Jadavpur University campus yesterday where the students reportedly put up banners against the RSS.
A video, which went viral, showed the students purportedly shouting slogans for 'azaadi' of Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland and Mizoram.

The sloganeering reportedly took place outside the Academy of Fine Arts on Sunday.
In the video, the students can be seen holding placards that call Yogi Adityanath the 'new Trump'. Slogans of 'azaadi', 'Halla Bol' and 'RSS door hatao' can also be heard.
