The residents of Leh, who have gathered for Prime Minister (PM) Modi's address on his maiden visit to the region after winning the elections, sounded very hopeful about the whole visit. They also hoped that some of their major demands will be fulfilled during this visit.
A local resident told ANI, "We are feeling good. All the residents of Ladakh are hopeful of things getting better in future. The road connectivity, making of tunnels for better connectivity with all the states of India and light are the hopeful areas."
"On the behalf of all the Ladakhis I say that since independence the language of Ladakh, Bhoti, has not attained any attention. So we hope that Narendra Modi will do something about that as well", he added.
Another local present at the gathering said, "Narendra Modi is visiting our place within a few months of winning the elections. It is an indication in itself that how considerate he is for us."
A student at the gathering said, "From last sixty-seventy years there is no university in Leh. Students face problems as they have to move to Jammu or Delhi for the same. It will be very good for the future generations if we can get a university here."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kargil today for laying the foundation stone for the Leh-Srinagar transmission line.
He will also inaugurate two hydro-power projects in Ladakh as well as address citizens in the region.
