The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, on Sunday said that they have evidence which proves that both the encounters in Jammu and Kashmir last week were carried out by terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

"We have enough evidence to indicate that both the groups were from the Lashkar-e- Taiba, the markings ......and logistics stores, whether it was food, whether it is ammunition, whether it is medicines, whether it is clothes, quite clearly indicate that they are all of Pakistan manufacture and origin," said Lt. Gen. Saha..

"These terrorists were heavily armed and they had enough food to last for a number of days and I think it goes to the credit of the security grid and the brave men who... were able to neutralise these heavily armed terrorists within hours and could bring situation under control," he added.

Reacting to the series of terror attacks at various army check posts by the militants earlier on Friday, Lt. Gen. Saha said, "The sequence in which the events took place shows that it was not a routine infiltration."

He, however, assured that the security grid is in place and is highly effective.

Jammu and Kashmir, which is in the midst of its five-phase state assembly elections, faced four terror attacks earlier on Friday, which were aimed at undermining the democratic process.
