Chinese tennis ace Li Na has said that she has no regrets about her decision to retire due to her unrelenting knee injuries, but revealed that she reached the decision only after thinking long and hard.

The two-time Grand Slam winner made her first public remarks since she announced her shock retirement via social media on Friday. She said that she is very satisfied with her tennis career.

Na, while speaking at a news conference at China's National Tennis Centre, which hosts the China Open later this month, said that she feels this is the best time for her to retire, adding that she does not feel sorry or have any regrets about retiring, Sport24 reported.

An emotional Na said that when making this decision she asked herself if she would regret after retiring, and added that her heart told her that she would not regret, because she has done her best.

Na's announcement comes just seven months after she lifted the Australian Open title, one of her career highlights following her historic French Open win of 2011, the report added.
