Lionel Messi scored a stunning goal in the 91st minute to help Argentina win their group encounter against Iran 1-0, and send the team to the World Cup knockout stage.
The build-up to the match was dominated by talk of a rift occurring between Messi and Argentinian coach Alejandro Sabella, the BBC reported.
The captain had reportedly expressed displeasure at the 5-3-2 formation which had been used in the first half against Bosnia-Herzegovina where Messi also scored the decisive goal.
Sabella duly reverted to Messi's preferred 4-3-3 and was rewarded by him at last.
