Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle to sign Brazil and Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino for 29 million pounds.

The 23-year-old would need to be granted a work permit, reports the BBC.

Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre is in Chile for talks with a view to ink a five-year deal with Firmino, and the latter is understood to have agreed to terms.

It is being reported that this could become Liverpool's second most expensive signing, following the signing of Andy Carroll for 35 million pounds from Newcastle in 2011.

Liverpool have recently signed Burnley striker Danny Ings, while goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, defender Joe Gomez and midfielder James Milner have also been brought in.
