Two England restaurants, co-owned by former England and Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher, reportedly had to close down after both of them accrued a debt of almost 1.2 million pounds.

The two Liverpool restaurants, Cafe Sports England and the cocktail bar Moments, have both closed down after both of them raised up the massive debt, most of which was owed to parent company the Flanagan Group.

According to the Daily Star, Flanagan Group MD Paul Flanagan blamed Cafe Sports England's problems on too much city centre competition, and lamented that they had put a lot into the business.

Carragher, now an established TV expert, had hoped the restaurants would provide a lucrative business for him after retiring last season, the report added.
