Former Congress MLA Kalpana Parulekar has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment by Bhopal District court, in connection with Lokayukta morphed picture case.

The case dates back to 2011 when Parulekar had produced in Madhya Pradesh Assembly an allegedly morphed picture of Lokayukta Justice PP Naolekar donning the uniform of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), hinting that the Justice had links with the party.

The BJP-ruled State government denied the authenticity of the picture, and claimed that Naolekar's face was morphed onto the body of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Later a case was registered against Parulekar.

Subsequently, she was arrested in 2012 from her constituency Mahidpur in the Ujjain district. Parulekar was later released.

In 2013, Madhya Pradesh police also filed a chargesheet in court against Parulekar.

In 2015, Justice Naolekar recorded his statement in the court alleging that the photograph was morphed.
