Lorde's hit song 'Royals' has been banned on the San Francisco radio stations 104.5 KFOG and 96.5 KOIT until the World Series baseball championship ends, which will see the San Francisco Giants face off against the Kansas City Royals, it has been reported.

Brian Figula, 96.5 KOIT's program director, mentioned on the channel's website that the song's ban was spurred by listeners, who wrote in questioning its Frisco loyalty after they heard the tune on the station, People magazine reported.

The connection was actually stronger than just name alone, as Lorde has previously mentioned that she was inspired to write the song after seeing a photo of Royals' Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett in an old issue of National Geographic.
