Dubai's innovative health programme which aimed at giving participants gold in return for every kilogram they lose reached its closure with the biggest loser earning 3200 dollars worth of gold.
The five-week challenge saw hundreds of participants from the obesity struck Gulf region and the health authorities offered three grams of gold for one kg weight lost to anyone who shed more than 10 kg.
According to Gulf News, Mona Ossama, won the competition after having lost 22 kilograms of weight and took home the gold prize.
The report said that smaller gold payouts were given to those who lost between two and 10kg.
