Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal lashed out at liberals for their obsession with race, saying that dividing people on the basis of their skin colour is "the dumbest thing".
According to the Verge, Jindal, a Louisiana Republican, said Monday at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor that the left is obsessed with race.
Jindal's comments came in response to a controversial portrait of him in which he appears to be White.
The portrait is said to have been commissioned by a Jindal supporter and is displayed in the Louisiana state capitol at present.
On being asked to share his views on the painting, Jindal said with a hint of humour "You mean I'm not white? The governor went on to add that the whole thing was rather silly.
