Tanushree Tripathi, the daughter of jailed politician Amarmani Tripathi, has been fielded by two political parties - Congress and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L) - from Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency.
The Congress on Thursday released its 13th list of 31 candidates who will be contesting from different constituencies in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh for the impending Lok Sabha elections slated to commence from April 11.
In that list, Tanushree was named the party's candidate from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.
Interestingly, PSP-L founder Shivpal Singh Yadav, who launched a political front called the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) earlier this month, had also announced a list of 30 candidates in which Tanushree's name was as the Maharajganj candidate.
The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held from April 11 and will go on till May 19 in seven phases. The polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in all the seven phases. Results will be declared on May 23.
A graduate of London University, Tanushree's brother Amar Mani Tripathi is out on bail in a CBI case involving his wife's death, while her parents are serving a jail sentence on account of poet Madhumita Shukla's death.
