Congress Party leader Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday said that the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan; should have paid tribute and allowed members to pay tribute to the soldiers who had died in Tuesday's terror attack in Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir.
"The Speaker gave obituary notice regarding what she read in the newspaper. All of us read in the newspaper that seven soldiers have died. She should have said something for them at least. Even the whole media is talking about this. Then naturally the house should also express some sorrow that seven soldiers have died and we are paying tributes to them," Tharoor told ANI.
He further said that when the combing operation ended we got to know that nine to ten soldiers have sacrificed their lives instead of ten. At least for the remaining three, the speaker should have said something.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier in the day led the opposition walkout over no obituary references being made in Parliament for the seven army personnel, who lost their lives in Nagrota
Meanwhile, Parliament adjourned for the day as the opposition refused to back on the demonetisatipon issue and the Nagrota terror attack.
