President Donald Trump has named Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, a career Army officer and strategist, as his new national security advisor as a replacement of Michael Flynn.
Trump made the announcement from Mar-a-lago on Monday afternoon, alongside the general and acting National Security Adviser Keith Kellogg, reports the New York Post.
Trump also asked Kellogg to continue as chief of staff to the National Security Council.
"I think that combination is something very, very special," Trump said of the pair.
McMaster is currently Director of the Army Capabilities Integration Center and Deputy Commanding General, Futures, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.
