Expressing serious concern over heavy shelling and firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant General (Retd.) P.N. Hoon on Sunday lashed out at Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for not initiating tough action against Islamabad.

"Why doesn't the Defence Minister visit the place (of ceasefire) and make out plans? It should be an offensive defense, no plans of being passive now," Lieutenant General (Retd.) Hoon told ANI here.

"Why the Defence Minister is not coming out? Why are we down and not dominant in any area?.....Look at the casualties, today there are civilians, tomorrow there would be army men, so we have to have a very strong offensive defense now," he added.

Heavy shelling and firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district left six civilians dead and 15 others injured.

Firing and shelling in entire Balakot Sector again broke out this morning. Heavy firing and shelling in Poonch Sector is continuing since midnight.

Panic has been prevailing among the people living along the border and they have started migrating towards safer places.
