Lucknow Metro MD Kumar Keshav conferred with doctorate degree

Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Limited (LMRCL) has been honored with one of the prestigious degree - Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by the Integral University, Lucknow for his extraordinary leadership qualities and capabilities displayed during successful execution of different Rail based transport projects in the country.

The Doctorate was handed over to him, by Dr. T Mohapatra, Director General & Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Born in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh on July 22, 1960, Kumar Keshav, an IRSE (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) officer and a gold-medalist engineer from IIT-Kanpur (M.Tech) and IIT-Roorkee (B.E.). He took over as Managing Director of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Limited on 18th August, 2014. He had a long tenure of more than ten years in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and contributed immensely in successful implementation of Phase-I and Phase-II of Delhi Metro project since initial years. He is also credited with completing the Central Secretariat - Badarpur Metro project on 3rd October, 2010 - just on the day of the start of the Commonwealth Games. Approximately 70,000 people used this to reach the venue of the games. He also has to his credit construction of first Standard Gauge Metro Corridor in the Country namely Indralok-Mundka corridor for Delhi Metro with all associated technologies of ballast less track, turnout etc.

 

Keshav has also undertaken a very prestigious international Heavy Haul Rail Project in Queensland, Australia for Hancock Coal Pty Limited, Brisbane as Project Director - Rail from June'12 to August'14. As Project Director - Rail, he lead the definition of the project scope, design basis, project scheduling for USD 3.3 Billion 510 kilometer long heavy-haul standard gauge rail corridor from Mine to Port for Alpha Coal project in Australia and completely designed the implementation strategy, cost estimation and returns with for EPC contract finalization with international firms.

Lucknow Metro is a dream project of the people of Uttar Pradesh, which is being executed by Metro engineers under his leadership. Work for this project is going on day and night without any break with the Managing Director leaving no stone unturned to see that the whole corridor is commissioned for public services by early next year (2019). The 8.5 km priority Metro corridor which was commissioned for trial runs on 1st December, 2016 in just two years and two month period which is a record in itself, thereby achieving the distinction of being the fastest ever Metro project execution in the Country, as stated by the 'Metro Man' Dr. E. Sreedharan. Even contemporary metro projects in the country have not been able to match up with the speed of deliverance as compared to LMRC strength in project execution.

He believes that the team members are the real strength. He is known to be a great motivator who guides his team through his innovative ideas to complete the project within the stipulated time-frame.

Dr. Kumar Keshav has been honored with several international and national awards.
