Tom Hardy has opened up about his struggle with drug addiction, which was once so bad that he considers himself "f------ lucky to be alive."
The 37-year-old London-born actor said that he was once a shameful statistic, adding that he was warned about going that down that road as he won't come back that message stayed with him clearly for the rest of his days, People Magazine reported.
The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' star, who now lives a sober lifestyle, admitted that he would have sold his mother for a rock of crack, adding that his reputation as a "hard man" didn't come naturally, calling himself a petite little bourgeois boy from London.
Hardy added that people didn't sit up and take any notice of him until he started putting on weight, kicking people and being aggressive, noting that the trouble with Hollywood is that they want you to be something, then they think you're who they wanted you to be.
