British golf ace Luke Donald has reportedly praised Pinehurst ahead of the start of the US Open, which has a reputation of being the toughest major tournament, on Thursday.
Donald is of the opinion that the lack of rough at Pinehurst would create an exciting tournament and said that he loves the renovation and the fact that the USGA have been brave enough to play a US Open with no rough, adding that it is a genius move on their part.
Donald said that having short-cut grass everywhere gives one so many more options, adding that if one hit the ball in long rough he has one option and that is to hack the ball out, BBC reported.
However, with the renovated golf course, Donald said that at Pinehurst one has so many different options off the tee, around the greens, adding that he loves what they have done.
