Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry has questioned the state administration over the flood situation in Vadodara as the Vishwamitri River began overflowing after heavy rains in the catchment areas.

"I was in Uttar Pradesh for two days and I saw in the newspapers that there was a flood in Vadodara. Many people are stuck due to the floods. So, seeing this situation, I have come to take a tour of the flood affected areas. It's surprising that the administration is not as active as it should have been," Mistry told ANI here.

"I have come here to find Mr Modi and the Chief Minister in Vadodara. Where are both of them when the people of Vadodara are suffering so much? The Prime Minister has not even said two words of condolence," he added.

Reports say that over 20,000 people were evacuated following the flood situation while a high alert had also been sounded in Vadodara.

Many low lying areas have also been submerged in the flood water.
