Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has for the first time indicated that the club is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to sign their star player Gareth Bale.

According to BBC, Ancelotti's comments came after speculation that Real is preparing a bid in excess of the world record 80 million-pound fee they paid for Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United in 2011.

Although Ancelotti said that he believed that the club is in talks to find a solution, the report believed that no formal bid has yet been submitted by Real even though the Welshman has told Tottenham that he wants a move to the Spanish giants.

However, Ancelotti also said that it is difficult to talk about Bale because he is not a Real Madrid player currently, adding that as he does not normally talk to players who are not from his team, it would not be fair to do so with Bale.

According to the report, Bale, who is undergoing treatment on the leg injury which forced him to miss their last two pre-season matches, joined Spurs in a ten million-pound deal from Southampton in 2007.

Bale was named as the Player of the Year in both the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' polls last season after scoring 26 goals for the White Hart Lane side, the report added.
