An earthquake measuring magnitude 4 on the Richter scale hit Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in the state's Chamoli district.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Disaster Management Centre chief Piyush Rautela said there was nothing to panic about as the quake was a minor one.
"Shocks have been felt near the areas of Chamoli and the frequency measured was 4. It is not a very serious one and shocks are very common there. One cannot predict if there will be another one soon but we are prepared for it," said Rautela.
