Ramon Magsaysay Award winner Sanjiv Chaturvedi's mother on Wednesday said she was very happy that her son has won the coveted award, and insisted that he never compromised with anything wrong.
"My son struggled a lot. He has been very intelligent since his childhood and has no fakeness. His father was very strict and always told him not to do any wrong work and also not to help the wrong people. There are no bad habits in my son," said Kalawati Chaturvedi.
"My son was good in studies always. He never did wrong to any one and never compromised with anything wrong," she added.
Chaturvedi and rights activist Anshu Gupta are among five persons from India, Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines who will receive the coveted Ramon Magsaysay Award.
The 2002-batch Indian Forest Service officer, who is currently involved in a prolonged battle with the Centre over his tough stance on graft, was the former Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
Chaturvedi initiated action in around 200 corruption cases during his stint as AIIMS CVO.
