A total of 74 lakh bank accounts have been opened in Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

The state has now achieved 130 percent target given under PMJDY.

Despite the zero balance facility provided to PJDY account holders, people have deposited Rs 700 crore in their accounts.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna was launched in August 2014 with the aim of opening a bank account for every household in India.
