Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raosaheb Dadarao Danve on Tuesday said that the new Chief Minister for Maharashtra will be decided only after Diwali.

"The election results have come just on the eve of Diwali and thus everybody will be caught up with the festivities. Senior party leaders Rajnath Singh and JP Nadda, who will come to oversee the candidature of the Chief Ministerial post, will come after Diwali, thus the process to select the government will now take place after that day," Danve told ANI.

He also refused to confirm whether the BJP will form the Maharashtra government with the Shiv Sena or the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

"All decisions will be taken by the party's parliamentary board," he said.

On Sunday, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Maharashtra assembly polls, nabbing 122 of the 288 seats in the state.
