Maharashtra: Dozens of animals rescued from circus, two held

The police were acting on a complaint filed by the Animal Welfare Board against the Moonlight Circus and have registered a case under Section 11 of the Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act.

"When we found that the animals were tortured, after that we registered a case under Section 11 of the Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act. In this, two managers were arrested," Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kabade said.

The rescued animals, including elephants, horses and dogs along with several birds, have been sent to the city zoo.
