Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and daughter of late Gopinath Munde, Pankaja Munde filed her nomination papers on Friday to contest the forthcoming state assembly elections from Beed in Maharashtra.

Munde said that the BJP will try its best to keep the Congress Party and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) out of power.

"It's sad that our alliance has ended, but polls can't be ignored and we will contest the elections with full force. Even the NCP-Congress alliance has ended, and therefore, all the major parties will contest the elections. We will try our best to keep the Congress and the NCP out of power," Munde said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Vinod Tawde, who filed his nomination from Borivali in Mumbai said, "It would have been better if the 'Mahayuti' had not ended. We have decided to tell people that if they want to see Maharashtra moving forward on the path of development like the rest of the country then they need to vote for BJP. We are sure that for the development of the state, people will vote for BJP."

The political alliance between the BJP-Shiv Sena and the Congress-NCP ended on Thursday ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 15. The counting of votes will take place on October 18.
