The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee today dispatched flood relief materials for the affected people in Jammu and Kashmir.

A leader of the party told ANI, "It is considered as a national calamity in Jammu and Kashmir. All the states should come forward and help the region as much as possible. That is the reason why Maharashtra Pradesh Congress has organized this today. We are sending some twenty rubber boats and a few fiber motorized speed boats to help the administration of Jammu and Kashmir in the relief work."

"We are also giving a thought for sending financial help in the area. Maharashtra has a tradition to help every state that comes under any kind of natural disaster. Maharashtra government has already extended aid of 10- crore rupees. In addition to that the Pradesh government has come forward for the help," he added.

Flash floods have thrown normal life out of gear in Jammu and Kashmir. People in the flood-affected areas of Poonch are being provided with healthcare and other relief materials by the IAF.
