Lauding the Centre and the state government for the arrest of former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya on Monday said that the investigation into the irrigation scam is in the final phase and like Bhujbal, NCP leaders Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare would also have to go to jail.
"It is a great achievement of the Modi and Fadnavis governments. At last, all these scandalous people are being sent to jail. The investigation into the irrigation scam is in the final phase, and I am very much certain that like Chhagan Bhujbal, Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare will also have to go jail," Somaiya told ANI.
Bhujbal was on Monday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan scam.
The Maharashtra ACB had last month filed a chargesheet in the Mumbai Sessions Court against Chhagan Bhujbal and his family members in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan construction scam.
Chhagan is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in several cases of money laundering.
