CONFIRMED!! Mahershala Ali is all set to star in the third season of HBO's crime thriller 'True Detective'.
According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO president of programming Casey Bloys confirmed the network has a deal with the Oscar-winning 'Moonlight' actor to star in a potential third season of the anthology series.
He announced this news during Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena, California.
Bloys shared, "I have read five scripts for a third season. I'm very very impressed and excited about what I've read. I don't want to give away the storyline, but I really think they're terrific."
He also shared that the network is currently looking out for directors for the third season. This is the final step before giving an official green light.
Much excited by the news, the Oscar-winning actor shared the news of his casting on his Instagram page.

The first season of the anthology series, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, debuted in 2014 to commercial and critical success, while the second season starring Colin Farrell,
Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams failed to garner the same positive reaction.
