Akali Dal leader and Punjab Finance Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday filed a criminal defamation suit at the district court here against Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Core Committee member Sanjay Singh for stating that Majithia was behind the drug trade in the state.
"I have filed a criminal defamation case against Sanjay Singh for his remarks. I will send him to jail for the defamatory remarks he has made. I will not let him go to," he told reporters after coming out of the court.
"Majithia is behind the drug (synthetic) trade in the state. We will put him behind bars when we come to power," said Sanjay Singh, who is also AAP's Punjab affairs' in charge.
However, hitting back at Majithia, Sanjay Singh said the entire Punjab knew that Majithia has played big role in augmenting the drug culture, which has destroyed the future of the youth of Punjab.
The Enforcement Directorate is probing the synthetic drugs scam case allegedly involving Majithia. He was questioned by the ED in December last year.
His name surfaced in the case after Jagdish Bhola, a man arrested last year for drugs trade, alleged in a court that it was being run under the minister's patronage and the full knowledge of the state police.
