A Malaysia Airlines plane was forced to halt in the middle of the runway as it was about to take-off, after air traffic control radioed pilots warning them of an imminent collision with another aircraft.

According to Metro, Flight MH136, which had 167 passengers on board and was heading for Kuala Lumpur, applied its brakes while on Adelaide Airport runway in Australia yesterday.

The report quoted an airline spokesperson as saying that MH136 was ready to depart Adelaide Airport and already on takeoff roll when it was instructed by Adelaide Air Traffic Control to discontinue its take-off as the inbound aircraft discontinued its landing and was infringing the vicinity of the take-off path.

The spokesperson added that the flight stopped safely upon receiving the instruction.

The airlines have had two tragedies in the recent past with two of its flights-MH370's mysterious disappearance and the downing of MH17 in eastern Ukraine.
