Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has urged Ukrainian and pro-Russian separatists to agree to a cease-fire in the area surrounding the MH17 crash site.

According to News 24, speaking in a joint news conference with Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte in The Hague, Razak said the conflict in eastern Ukraine may not be easily resolved, but the people on board that plane had no part in it.

He said that there should be an immediate cessation of hostilities in and around the crash site by both Ukrainian and separatist forces, and urged the parties to respect the lives lost and the integrity of the crash site so that the investigation may proceed.

Following the ongoing fighting between Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists, investigators have not been able to retrieve many of the bodies of the 298 passengers and crew, who were aboard the plane when it was shot down while flying over Ukraine.
