A Maldivian poll official has blamed police for stopping the presidential election from going ahead.
The BBC quoted Electoral Commission head Fuwad Thowfeek, as saying that the police entered his office and stopped his officials from distributing election materials.
According to the report, two candidates tried to delay the poll as they did not approve the voter register.
The commission, however, made a last-minute announcement that the vote would be held as planned on Saturday, the report added.
Last week, the Maldives Supreme Court had annulled the result of the first round of the elections held in September over reports of alleged irregularities.
