Hours after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented Budget-2017 in the Parliament, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to condemn it in harsh words.

Calling the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government's budget 'misleading' and 'full of jugglery of numbers and hollow words', the TMC leader rued the absence of the data or figures that could show the impact of demonetisation.

"A controversial #Budget2017 which is clueless, useless, baseless, missionless and actionless. Heartless. No roadmap for the country or the future from a government that has lost all its credibility. Tax payers still have restrictions on withdrawals. Remove all restrictions immediately. And where are the figures for #DeMonetisation? Misleading. Full of jugglery of numbers and hollow words which mean nothing," Mamata wrote on the social networking site.

The TMC earlier boycotted the first two days of the Budget session as a mark to protest against demonetisation. The party said the note-ban was implemented without taking Parliament into confidence.

Earlier in the day, Jaitley presented the General Budget proposals for 2017-18 in Parliament and said the major thrust of his fourth budget is on stimulating growth, relief to middle class, affordable housing, curbing black money, promoting digital economy, transparency of political funding and simplification of tax administration.

The Finance Minister also outlined the government's overarching agenda - 'Transform, Energise and Clean India'. He also said the government's emphasis will be on implementing all these proposals for the benefit of the farmers, the poor and the under privileged sections of the society.

The Budget has evoked diverse reactions from nation across with most of the BJP-opposing parties criticising it for the absence of any breakthrough schemes facilitating compensation for the cash shortage in the country due to demonetisation.
