West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday assured that the strongest possible action would be taken in the nun gangrape case, even as her convoy to the Nadia district of West Bengal was stopped by protestors as she was returning from the hospital after meeting the victim.
Earlier in the day, Banerjee maintained that her government would take 'all possible measures' to ensure that the case is speedily solved. She also met with the school authority, district administration and representative of the local church.
On Saturday, around a dozen suspected dacoits entered the Convent of Jesus and Mary and gang-raped the nun.
Eight people have so far been detained in connection with the case after police officials released CCTV footage of the perpetrators.
