The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's collaboration with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre would work for both the state and the country as a whole.

"The Prime Minister is very sincere in ensuring all state governments, whether they are ruled by Congress, regional parties or BJP, all have a fantastic, excellent relationship with the Centre because only when we work as a team can the country really move forward. The Prime

Minister is very focused on this relationship and if West Bengal comes along and wants to partner with the Central government in this symbiotic relationship, it will only work for both the country as a whole and for the state of West Bengal," BJP spokesperson G.V.L Narasimha Rao told ANI.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Day one of his prime ministership wanted to forge a collaborative and very progressive relationship with all the chief ministers and to work as a team," he added.

The Prime Minister, who is on a two-day trip to West Bengal, had earlier in the day visited the Dakshineswar Kali Temple near Kolkata, before visiting Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, which was founded by Swami Vivekananda.
