A man from the Zakan area of Keller in central Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday barged into the residence of former State Secretary of the Communist Party of India, Abdul Rehman Tukroo, and decamped with an AK-47 assault rifle.
An alert has been issued for all the entry and exit points leading to the village.
A search has also been launched to locate the person who decamped with the rifle.
