Premier League club Manchester City are offering Manchester United player Adnan Januzaj triple the amount of salary he gets at his current club, if he accepts a controversial move to the Etihad.

According to Metro.co.uk, Januzaj, 18, is currently locked in talks with United over a new contract after David Moyes prompted him to the first-team squad over the summer.

Despite the club suggesting they are hopeful keeping the player, City have stepped into the race and have made it clear that they want Januzaj in the January transfer window, the report said.

Manuel Pellegrini has given his blessing to move for the Belgian-born youngster, and City officials are proposing a 45,000 pound-a-week five-year-deal if he walks out on United, the report added.

The money is triple of his current earnings at Old Trafford, and signifies City's determination to land the winger who is being tipped for big things, the report further said.

Moyes said on Friday that he was aware of 'external influences' in deciding Januzaj's future, and hinted at a battle to sign him up.

He said that the club really thought an awful lot of the player.

Januzaj has made four United first-team appearances to date, according to the report.
